What your guest gets on WhatsApp
A message from you, in your chat with them, with their personal link at the end. When WhatsApp shows a link preview, it uses a wide version of your invitation made for chat previews.
To one guest
Hi Emily Chen, you're invited to Sophie & James.
Tap the link to RSVP.
This link is personal to you, so please don't forward it.

To a household
Hi Evans family, you're invited to Sophie & James.
Tap the link to RSVP for everyone in your group.
This link is just for your group, so please don't forward it.

When several guests share an invitation, the household row gets one button and one message, sent to the first person with a working number.
How to send invitations on WhatsApp
- Step 1
Add phone numbers, if you have them
Import your guest list with a Phone, Mobile or WhatsApp column, or add numbers by hand with a country code. Each number is checked against its country code when saved, and any that will not work are flagged with what to fix. With no number, WhatsApp opens its contact picker and you choose the chat.
- Step 2
Design your invitation, or do not
If you have designed an invitation, that is what guests see. If not, say because you are posting paper invitations, the link opens a clean page with your event name and date and the RSVP button under it.
- Step 3
Tap WhatsApp on a guest
Your WhatsApp opens on that guest's chat with the message and their personal link already written. The guest's menu shows the number it will go to, and if that number is not usable, WhatsApp asks you to pick the chat. Change the wording if you like, and press send.
- Step 4
Keep track as you go
The row is marked Shared on WhatsApp with the date, so you do not lose your place on a long list. Filter by it to see who you have done, and clear a mark if you opened WhatsApp but did not send.
- Step 5
Watch the replies arrive
Guests open your invitation, full screen if they like, and tap RSVP to give their attendance, dietary needs and names for any plus-ones you allow. Replies land on your guest list next to everyone who answered by email or on paper.
The invitation page the WhatsApp link opens
With an invitation designed, guests see it with the RSVP button under it, and on an Indian wedding e-invite with an RSVP for each function, that RSVP asks only about the functions they are invited to. No invitation designed? The link opens a clean page with your event name and date.
Invite from your own WhatsApp
Tap the button next to a guest, press send, and their invitation and personal RSVP go with the message.
Other links you can send on WhatsApp
-
Your event-wide RSVP link
You can also send your event-wide RSVP link to WhatsApp: one link for everyone on your list, where guests type their name to find their own invitation, the same way the RSVP QR code on printed invitations works. Sharing it turns on name lookup, so anyone with the link can find a name on your list. Send it to your guests, not to a public page.
-
Personal links for guests without an email
Guests with no email address are gathered under Personal RSVP links, each with its own WhatsApp button. It all feeds the same online RSVP.
Limits of WhatsApp invitations
-
It does not send anything automatically
Each message is opened for you and sent by you. There is no bulk send and no scheduled send on WhatsApp.
-
It does not use the WhatsApp Business API
Nothing is sent from our servers, and there is no business account, template approval or per-message cost involved.
-
It cannot confirm delivery
The mark on a guest means WhatsApp was opened with their message. Whether it was sent, delivered or read stays between you and WhatsApp.
-
A personal link goes to one guest
For a group chat of people you have not added yet, send a shareable RSVP link instead.
-
No SMS
It opens WhatsApp only. Guests without WhatsApp can get their invitation by email or on paper.
Other ways to invite guests and collect replies
Shareable RSVP link
One link for a group chat. Each person replies with their own name and joins your guest list, without anyone seeing who else is invited.
Share one linkRSVP QR code for printed invitations
Add one QR code to your paper invitations. Guests scan it, type their name and reply online. Download it as a PNG or SVG in your own colours.
Add a QR to your invitesOnline RSVP
Collect replies online for the whole party, including plus-ones and dietary requirements. Everyone who says yes is already on your guest list, ready to seat.

No. The button opens your own WhatsApp with the message and link already written, and you press send. Nothing goes out without you.
No. It uses the WhatsApp already on your phone or computer. There is nothing to connect and no per-message cost.
They need WhatsApp to read your message, but the RSVP opens in their phone's browser, with no app to install and no account.
Your message, with their link at the end. When WhatsApp shows a link preview, it uses a picture of your invitation. Tapping the link opens the invitation with an RSVP button under it.
It is marked on the guest list with what to fix, such as adding a country code. If you share anyway, WhatsApp opens its own contact picker so you choose the chat yourself. The app never guesses who to send a personal link to.
Each guest you have shared with shows Shared on WhatsApp and the date, and a filter lists them all. The mark means WhatsApp was opened with their message, so clear it if you did not end up sending.
Yes. Every invitation has one personal RSVP, whichever way it reaches them, and all the replies land on one guest list.
